Description

When the job calls for screws but you don’t want the screws to show, you can often countersink and cap them, either with matching wood to conceal the heads or with contrasting wood as a decorative accent.

This kit simplifies the process, letting you countersink and drive screws in a useful range of sizes, then cut accurate, snug-fitting plugs without having to use a drill press.

To save time when countersinking multiple screws, the quick-change drill and driver-bit holder can switch from drilling to driving operations on the fly – just release the locking chuck collar to flip the drill/driver insert end for end.

The self-centering plug cutters have a retractable guide point that helps keep the cutter centered when used freehand in a regular drill, producing clean, precise cuts. The cutters come in two sizes, each yielding a smooth plug with a tapered shape to fit a range of hole diameters. Simply press and glue the tapered plug into the hole; once the glue cures, you can use a flush-cutting saw to trim it level with the surrounding wood.

The set includes a quick-release chuck with a drill/driver insert that accepts any 1" × 1/4" hex-shank driver bits. It also comes with six brad-point drill bits (1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8" and 1/2"), #6, #8 and #10 countersinks (with a spare bit and set screw for each), seven driver bits (#1 and #2 square recess, #1 and two #2 Phillips, and #20 and 25 Torx), and 5/16" and 3/8" self-centering tapered plug cutters, all held in a molded storage case.
