A propell nut is a flanged, prong-style fastener that presses into a pre-drilled hole in wood or composite material, providing a permanent 3/8-16 threaded point for bolts or knobs.
Drill a 29/64" pilot hole, then press or tap the nut in until the flange sits flush and the prongs are fully seated. These propell nuts (3/8-16 thread) are then ready to accept a bolt or knob without further prep.
These are available in packages of 10 or 100, so you can buy just enough for one jig or stock up for a shop full of fixtures.
