Mirka's 9" sander is an excellent choice for large surface work, such as with tables and boats. At just under 35" long, it is also well suited for working in close quarters, such as hallways or bathrooms, when sanding walls.
Weighing 3.2kg (7 lb), it has a well-balanced, ergonomic design that makes it easy to handle, with dual grips for control and maneuverability. Operating with a minimum of noise and dust, it has a rear port for connection to a 1" diameter vacuum hose. A pattern of holes in the platen distributes suction across the entire sanding disc, extracting dust right at the source to greatly reduce clean-up time.
The sanding head pivots, which, combined with the vacuum suction, helps maintain flush surface contact with little effort. The sander’s powerful brushless motor has variable speeds from 4000 to 8000 rpm.
The 9" diameter platen and aggressive 5mm orbit pattern permit rapid sanding of large surfaces, while the platen’s bevelled sides help avoid contact with adjacent surfaces when sanding close to an inside corner.
It has a noise rating of 73 dB as well as low vibration output (2.5m/s²) and pairs with the myMirka app to monitor long-term vibration exposure. Supplied with a nylon carrying case and a small sample kit of Abranet discs to get you started.
