Described in AndrĂ© Rouboâs 18th-century French text LâArt du Menuisier, a polissoir (French for âpolisherâ) is a simple tool made of tightly bound broom straw that is used for compressing and polishing the surface of wood.
Simple to use, just apply wax to your work then scour the waxed surface with the polissoir. It will burnish the wood and press the wax into the pores.
