Setup – Setting the Infeed and Outfeed Tables
Typically, many woodworkers set their infeed and outfeed tables level with the planer’s bed. A better alternative is to adjust the infeed and outfeed tables to reduce snipes by setting the tables slightly higher than the planer’s bed. The procedure is simple as follows:
- Lift the outfeed (or infeed) table and loosen the two lock nuts that are located under the table on each side
- Adjust the two stop screws until the table is about 1/8” higher than the planer’s bed (Photo 1)
- Do the same adjustment on the other table (Photo 2)
- Make some test cuts on a scrap, and raise the tables a little more if necessary.
