Setup – Setting the Infeed and Outfeed Tables

Typically, many woodworkers set their infeed and outfeed tables level with the planer’s bed. A better alternative is to adjust the infeed and outfeed tables to reduce snipes by setting the tables slightly higher than the planer’s bed. The procedure is simple as follows:

  1. Lift the outfeed (or infeed) table and loosen the two lock nuts that are located under the table on each side

  2. Adjust the two stop screws until the table is about 1/8” higher than the planer’s bed (Photo 1)

  3. Do the same adjustment on the other table (Photo 2)

  4. Make some test cuts on a scrap, and raise the tables a little more if necessary.

Use the lock nuts to adjust the setting.

A straight edge is being used to check that the infeed table is properly aligned.
