Description

Dear Customer,

I have to confess that I have been unable to quickly find specific tools in our annual catalog for a few years now. Three decades and several hundred publications have left my hippocampus unable to cope with any sort of product/page associations. I now have to rely on technology to do the work for me.

Fortunately, technology has become increasingly powerful and portable; there is now more storage and processing power in most phones than there was on our first multi-user computer system. But at the same time, we recognize that searching a computer system or navigating a website is a completely different experience from browsing and reading a printed publication.

That’s why we’re pleased to announce the Lee Valley Library app for iPad. Not only can you download and store catalogs on your device, but the individual publications are searchable and each publication index is actively linked to the appropriate pages. You can even add bookmarks with small notes by page.

You may have also noted some of our recent forays into social media: Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Rest assured that if you prefer to be "social" in the old-fashioned way, we still answer the phone promptly, have knowledgeable and experienced staff in our stores, and handwrite some replies to letters.

And yes, we still intend to keep printing catalogs.

Cheers,

Robin C. Lee
