Lift-Off Welding Butt Hinges

These hinges are part of a special purchase of 1930s hardware. Until we bought this hardware, it had been stored in a New York warehouse where it had been shipped from Sweden just before the Second World War. It is well made, though there may be some minor surface rust that can be removed.

These hinges are undrilled because they are most commonly welded to other steel or iron components, such as in metal toolboxes. Alternatively, they can readily be drilled for standard use with screws.

They are a specialized type of right-hand hinge that function much like a loose-pin for easy assembly or disassembly. The pin is fixed in one knuckle and loose in the other.
