This grater earned top spot in a review of rotary cheese graters in Cook’s Illustrated magazine. We like its large hopper that holds a substantial hunk of cheese and its stainless-steel bladed drum that grates faster than other models we’ve tried. While it excels in use with hard cheeses such as parmesan, we found it also works well with chocolate and nuts, including hard almonds as well as softer pecans and walnuts.
The drum and crank-style handle can be oriented for left- or right-handed users, and rubber-like surfaces on the hand grip and the crank’s turning knob make the grater comfortable to use. Largely made of tough plastic, the components come apart for easy clean-up in the dishwasher.
