Its multi-disciplinary approach brings together the perspectives of furniture makers, conservators and scholars to span woodworking past and present, with focus on pre-industrial tools and methods.
In this issue, author and boatbuilder Douglas Brooks travels to the Nagara River in Japan to learn how to build traditional bamboo fishing boats from the last living master of the craft. Editor Joshua Klein gives a comprehensive lesson on traditional plane making using only ordinary bench tools.
