Designed as a companion to The Stick Chair Book (2021) by Lost Art Press co-founder Christopher Schwarz, The Stick Chair Journal continues its exploration of stick-chair design and construction techniques and the history of vernacular chairmaking traditions.

The third issue focuses on the history and construction of the Lincolnshire Windsor chair, an early form of Windsor chair that has received little attention in modern chairmaking literature. Schwarz examines possible links between early Windsor and stick-chair forms and provides complete plans for building the chair.

Other articles cover practical workshop techniques and historical subjects related to chairmaking. Schwarz offers a finish recipe that uses dirt, soot and oil to give furniture an aged appearance, and explains how to set up and use the Stanley No. 77 dowel maker to produce tenons and chair sticks. This issue also includes a profile of chairmaker Chester Cornett and a discussion of furniture pricing conventions in early Appalachian communities.

Printed on heavy coated paper with color photos and black-and-white illustrations. Limited print run; available while quantities last. Will not be reprinted. Sold as a single issue, not a subscription.

Softcover, 9 1/2" × 7 1/4", 80 pages, 2026.
