58D1611 - Log Notch Gouge
For saddle notches, a sturdy gouge with a medium sweep is a very handy tool. It can be used for initial notch outlining to prevent chain-saw chipping and for final fitting. It also comes in handy for fitting log grooves.
This 1 1/2" bent gouge with a #7 sweep comes razor sharp and should be maintained that way. We suggest a 4000x water slip stone or a hard Arkansas slip stone for that.
A double-hooped handle is installed for extra-heavy use.
12 1/2" long overall.
