Description

This versatile hatchet excels for both camp use and as a throwing axe. It has a 1.6 lb head forged from 1060 steel, hardened to 54-56 HRC for durability and edge retention, and is pressure seated for fit on a 16" grade-A hickory handle.

With a generous 4" cutting edge, it is well suited for camp chores such as processing kindling and firewood, clearing branches and pointing stakes. A useful feature of this hatchet is its hardened poll, which works well for driving stakes without denting or mushrooming.

Because it is well balanced with a solid heft, the Flying Fox is an ideal throwing axe that also meets the size and weight standards for most competitive throwing leagues. Vegetable-tanned leather sheath sold separately.

Made in the USA by a family-run company that has been producing hand-finished axes and tools of the highest quality and durability since 1886.
