Description
A reproduction of the Disston #8 (made from the 1860s until the early 1920s), this unusual saw is a hybrid of a panel saw and a backsaw. Hand made in a small family-owned company in Oregon, it is superbly balanced and finished.
The 3/16" thick by 1/2" deep brass back runs partially along the spine to provide additional stiffness without limiting the saw's ability to crosscut. Although much shorter than a panel saw, its light weight and excellent balance make it effective for cabinetmaking and small-scale joinery work.
Made of Swedish spring-steel, the 0.030" thick by 16" long blade has 9 tpi filed in a crosscut pattern. Total tooth set is 0.014" for a kerf width of 0.044". The blade tapers from 5 1/2" wide at the handle to about 3 1/2" wide at the scalloped toe. Measures 20" overall. Weighs 17 oz. Lifetime warranty.
As this saw is hand made, delivery delays may occasionally arise. If necessary, we will advise you of the expected delivery date when you place an order.
