This adapter has an unusual mechanism; it has no gears to jam or slip, instead using an arrangement of bent rods to smoothly and efficiently transfer the rotation of a wrench a full ninety degrees. This keeps the adapter locked at a right angle, making it easier to position when working in tight quarters.
