VA101 – The Plugger Grafting Bit
While conventional grafting techniques limit where a new branch can be placed, this bit lets you position one almost anywhere on a limb.
The bit has the same taper as a standard pencil sharpener. Simply sharpen a 6" length of scion (the branch being grafted) in a pencil sharpener, then use the Plugger in a drill to bore a matching hole deep enough that the cambium of the scion mates with the cambium of the tree. Insert the scion into the tapered hole and seal the join with grafting wax. In a few months, the new branch will be established and growing in place.
