08K3615 - Mirka 3" × 4" Self-Generating Vacuum Orbital Sander, 3mm Orbit
With a tight 3mm orbital pattern that leaves smooth, even surfaces, combined with a compact 3" × 4" platen that has bevelled sides to permit precise sanding right up to an edge, this is a superb sander for finishing work. Effectively dust-free in use, it has an onboard dust-collection system that lets you work independently of a separate vacuum.
At 4" tall and weighing just 0.7kg (1 lb 9 oz) with a comfortable, ergonomic design, it is a highly maneuverable tool, well suited for overhead or vertical tasks and for working into tight spots.
Air passing through the pneumatic motor produces a Venturi effect, generating a powerful suction. A pattern of holes in the platen distributes suction across the entire sanding pad, extracting dust right at the source while you work. Dust is expelled through a 70" hose into a disposable paper collection bag held within an 8 3/4" × 18" protective nylon outer bag (replacement collection bags available separately), greatly reducing clean-up time.
The sander connects to standard 3/8" diameter air hoses, requiring 16 cfm of air at pressure up to 90 psi. It has a noise rating of 81 dB, low vibration output (3.5m/s²), and a 70" outlet hose that directs exhaust air away from the user.
The upper control paddle lets you adjust speed on the fly without interrupting your work – pressing the paddle increases the speed up to 10,000 rpm, a lighter squeeze slows the motor, and releasing it stops the tool within seconds.
Compatible with a range of Mirka pads, it lets you select from a full line of abrasive types and grits to match the application. It comes with a platen protector to prolong the life of the platen (replacement platen protectors available separately).
