For use on turnings made of resin or for any other turned work where an ultra-smooth, high-gloss surface is desired, you can follow an application of Original Yorkshire Grit paste with this finer-grit paste polish. Like the original formulation, the solvent-free paste contains powdered pumice and rottenstone abrasive blended with mineral oil and beeswax.

You can apply it using a paper towel as the work spins on the lathe. As it polishes, the abrasive breaks down into smaller particles, eventually comparable to that of a 2000 grit abrasive, yielding a progressively finer surface finish.

On wood, the oil and wax ingredients penetrate and seal the surface, but if desired, an additional oil-based finish can be applied; for non-oil-based finishes, the work should be wiped down with denatured alcohol to remove any oil and wax polish residue.
