Bolivian Rosewood (Machaerium spp.) – Also known as pau ferro or morado, it ranges from reddish/orange to a deep violet/brown, typically with contrasting black streaks. A fine, even-textured wood, it is quite dense and tends to dull tool edges quickly. It is mostly straight grain that turns and finishes well but can have areas of irregular or reversing grain that are prone to tear-out.
Blanks are available in two sizes suitable for turned bowls as well as other projects.
