Safely Using Your Rikon Bandsaw
Now that your bandsaw is assembled and set up, it’s time to put it to work. Before you do, it’s important to understand how to use the saw safely.

How do I use my saw safely?
- Always unplug the saw when making adjustments or changing blades.
- Always wear eye and hearing protection. A dust mask is also recommended.
- Ensure all guards are in place, and that the upper blade guide is positioned no higher than 1/4" above the work.
- Use an appropriate blade for the job at hand, and be sure it is tensioned and tracking correctly.

- If an offcut becomes trapped between the blade and throat insert, stop the saw before removing it.
- Be particularly careful when folding and unfolding blades; they’re sharp and have a lot of spring. Ensure the teeth are facing away from you. Wear safety gloves, even when installing the blade.

- Keep the stock registered firmly against the table. Some well-known woodworkers have advocated holding the workpiece on edge to cut sculptural shapes, but this is inherently dangerous.
- The blade is exposed when completing a cut, so use a push stick.
