Well balanced and lightweight for its size, this spade for digging, splitting and transplanting perennials has a mid-length handle to make it easy to work with from a kneeling or sitting position. It has a 5" × 5 3/4" long blade with a bevelled edge to penetrate soil easily.
The blade is well formed and welded to the tang; all metal components are stainless steel for durability and corrosion resistance. The beech handle is shaped for comfort and lacquered, and has a ferrule that caps the end grain to prevent swelling or splitting. The tool is about 24" long overall. Excellent quality.
