While most headlamps have a forward-facing beam that lights up only the area immediately in front of you, this water-resistant headlamp illuminates a broad swath that fills your entire field of view, including your peripheral vision. In addition, it has a motion-activated mode that lets you turn the headlamp on or off with just a wave of your hand.
Emitting an impressively bright 220 lumens on the highest setting, the main 4 1/2" LED strip uses chip-on-board (COB) circuitry to evenly diffuse the light, softening shadows and eliminating glaring hotspots. It also has a low setting, a red setting that lets you see well without compromising your night vision, and an attention-getting red flash setting for safety during activities such as walking or jogging after dark.
Positioned just off to the side, two LED spotlights in the main housing let you choose a cool white 70-lumen beam or 150 lumens of warm white light.
When activated, the headlamp automatically defaults to the last setting used, so you donât have to toggle through all the options to return to a preferred setting. The headlamp runs for approximately 3 to 5 hours per charge, depending on the setting, powered by a built-in 1200 mAh lithium-ion power cell that fully recharges in about 2 1/2 hours with an included USB cable.
