Each of the three chapters in this handbook presents clear, step-by-step illustrated directions for repairing cane, Shaker tape and rush seats. It begins with an overview of seat styles, weaving and taping patterns and basic supplies.

The first chapter covers making the caning frame, weaving strand cane and how to install pre-woven cane webbing. Chapter two outlines techniques for weaving and stuffing a Shaker tape seat, and includes a photo gallery showing diverse examples of seating made with Shaker tape.

The final chapter gives step-by-step illustrated instructions for rushing a chair seat. A practical reference guide whether you are restoring old chairs or building new ones.
