Original masons’ & engravers’ square shown in background.

Founded in 1825, Edward Preston & Sons, Ltd. produced some of the finest tools of the Victorian age.
This elegantly designed square and depth gauge, a close replica of the original Preston model, is designed to hold a rule perpendicular to the workpiece, ensuring accurate measurements.
Like the original, our version has a cast shoe and machined clamping knob made from brass, but in place of the original’s steel rule we have substituted a hardened 6" stainless-steel rule.
The rule has a matte finish with etched and black-filled markings for ease of reading. The Imperial and metric markings are graduated in 16ths and millimetres with smaller sections in 32nds, 64ths and 1/2 millimetres. A simple yet versatile tool.
Well made in Canada.
