60T0674 - Set of 3 Mini Japanese Saws
If you find these saws irresistible when looking at a photo, just try holding them in your hands. Delicate in appearance only, this set includes miniature ryoba, kariwaku and dozuki saws that are fully functional and just happen to be approximately 1:4-scale versions of their full-size counterparts.
Elegantly crafted for cutting in confined spaces and intricate work, they were designed by a Japanese sawmaker renowned for making saws for shrine and temple carpenters.
A combination rip and crosscut saw, the mini ryoba has 25 tpi crosscut on one edge and 13 tpi in a ripping pattern along the other, each cutting a 0.45mm kerf.
The mini kariwaku has a tapered profile that allows easier access to smaller, more constricted areas. The 25 tpi (0.45mm kerf) blade is filed in a crosscut pattern. It tapers from 0.4mm thick at the heel to 0.3mm at the toe to prevent binding in the kerf.
Also filed in a crosscut pattern, the mini dozuki has a 29 tpi (0.3mm kerf) blade with a maximum sawing depth of just over 1/2".
Each saw has a 2 3/8" long high-carbon steel blade that has been hardened to Rc52 and a paulownia handle hand-wrapped with rattan. Made in Japan.
The saws can also be purchased individually.
