08M2103 - 120x Cool Grinding Wheel, 8" × 1"
The stones that usually come with a grinder are too coarse and too hard for dry-grinding hand tools. Our 8" diameter, 1" wide grinding stone is aluminum oxide with a soft bond (grade H) and an open structure. It will wear faster than hard stones but will not burn tools as readily. With a bit of experience, you will find that you can quickly grind a nick out of a chisel without overheating the tool.
A 120x wheel is best for carving tools. It has a 1" arbor hole and four bushings (for 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" and 7/8" shafts). Maximum rpm is 3600.
This open-structure, friable bond stone is custom made for Lee Valley.
Note: This wheel should only be used on grinders that are designed for 8" wheels, with no modification to the grinder.
