Description
Used to secure pre-woven rattan cane, reed spline has a tapered cross section that wedges snugly into grooves in the seat frame.
Available in three sizes: #7 (5/32"), #8 (3/16") and #9 (7/32"). Spline should be 1/32" narrower than the groove; therefore, #7 spline fits a 3/16" groove, #8 is for a 7/32" groove, and #9 goes into a 1/4" groove.
If replacing an old seat, measure the groove at various points to ensure it is a consistent width. If necessary, spline can be dressed with a block plane to produce a perfect fit.
Sold in 10' lengths (not continuous).
