Using a long-handled tool often means kneeling to work with the plant, standing to use the tool, and kneeling again. It is exhausting work.

Hand forged by a small firm in the Netherlands, this professional-grade spade has a 16" T-shaped ash handle that is short enough to wield from a kneeling or seated position, or to dig in raised beds.

It has a tempered stainless-steel head that is perfectly sized and shaped for getting under bulbs or a mass of roots to pry them out.

It has a sharp 5"x5 1/2" flat blade and is about 22" overall.
