Exceptionally easy to use, the HORL 3 takes much of the uncertainty out of sharpening kitchen knives while retaining the control and tactile feedback of a manual system.
The blade remains stationary, held firmly against the cushioned magnetic face of the angle support. You simply roll the sharpener back and forth along the cutting edge. This arrangement maintains the bevel angle for you, avoiding the most common errors that can occur when a knife is moved freehand over a bench stone.
The support offers two fixed settings. The 15° face is intended for a fine edge suited to precise cutting and many thin, hard blades. The 20° face produces a more durable edge for general-purpose kitchen knives and heavier cutting tasks.
The standard diamond disc uses durable monocrystalline diamond abrasive that retains its cutting action even on hard knife steels, efficiently establishing or refreshing the bevel. After sharpening both sides, the smooth ceramic disc refines the grinding pattern and removes the burr, leaving a clean, keen working edge.
Both discs attach with HORL’s Quick Lock mechanism. A short twist releases a disc, making it easy to fit optional coarse, fine and polishing discs as needed, whether to restore a slightly damaged edge or to obtain a highly refined finish.
The roller and angle support are faced in solid wood, available in oak or walnut. Cushioned magnetic faces protect the blade and provide a secure hold, while four non-slip feet stabilize the support on a countertop.
The roller measures 3 1/2" long by 2 1/8" in diameter, and the support measures 4 1/2" long by 2 1/4" wide by 1" high.
Supplied with the magnetic 15°/20° angle support and fitted standard diamond and smooth ceramic discs.
Made in Germany.
