Especially suited to end-grain work such as goblets and vases, or free-form bowls, the serrated surfaces of the gripper jaws maximize holding power. All versions have external faces that expand within a straight-sided recess. Suitable for the K10 and Goliath chucks, the 36mm (1 3/8") jaws hold spigots in their central bore; the 53mm (2 1/16") set is for use with all Axminster chucks and has gripping surfaces on its inner jaw faces; the 75mm (3") jaws (used with the K10 and Goliath chucks) clamp around spigots with their inner faces and central bore.
The type G and Colossus gripper jaws have deeply serrated internal faces to grip hollow forms or end-grain pieces, and smooth, non-marring dovetail-shaped external faces for the recessed feet of platters or bowls. The type G jaws are for medium to large projects held by the K10 or Goliath chuck, while the Colossus jaws are for truly massive work and best used with only the Goliath chuck.
