Unlike a flashlight, this innovative light is meant to be stationary in use, casting a broad but directed beam over a wide area, much like a car headlight. It excels as area lighting for indoor or outdoor tasks.
What really makes the light unique is the detachable base; it couples magnetically to the steel lower half of the light casing, allowing it to swivel in any direction like an eyeball. The 2 3/8" diameter base sits flat and stable on level surfaces, and can also attach to ferrous metal surfaces with strong cupped rare-earth magnets embedded in the bottom. A pair of fold-out opposed hooks allow the light to be securely hung from a line so it can’t fall off, and there is even a standard 1/4-20 threaded insert for attachment to camera tripods. Only a tug is needed to separate the light from the base.
The 5W light has innovative COB (chip-on-board) LED technology with high, low and SOS settings. It includes a USB to Micro USB cable that is used to charge the built-in 4000mAh Li-ion battery. There is also a USB output that lets you charge a phone or tablet in an emergency. With a full charge (up to 5 1/2 hours), it runs continuously for 3 hours on high with 600 lumens of output, or more than 6 hours on low. The wide-angle reflector has a 60° beam angle, and the rugged water-resistant housing (IP rating 44) is just shy of 3 1/2" in diameter. Weight is just under 1 lb.
